Buyamba Soles is a project created by our friends at ACI International Footwear Company to help women who have been affected by AIDS in Uganda and to impact Buyamba Uganda through the partnership of support. The Business Model of Buyamba Soles is to “create a cycle” of giving by developing markets here in the USA for Ugandan made products. These products will help create much needed jobs in Uganda and in particular help a group of women in outlying villages that have been devastated by poverty and the HIV virus. This production will affect every aspect of these women’s community and living conditions, allowing them to have a steady income that will support their food costs of their family, living conditions, and educational needs of their children. These products will then be sold into markets in the US and proceeds from the profits will be donated back to Uganda Buyamba which will help children in need and help fulfill the Buyamba Uganda mission. The first such product is the beautiful paper beads that are made by hand and sold as jewelry. The beads are actually made from trash or recycled paper. The beads are being transported to China where they are put onto sandals. It is amazing and God has answered so many prayers.. To date in a very short amount of time the women have made over 1 million beads!
Proceeds of each sandal will go to Buyamba Uganda to support the kids at God Cares School. The first delivery of these Ugandan beaded sandals will be sold in Target in the spring of 2012. Each pair of sandals will have a hang tag that describes the plight of the women in Uganda and explains that a portion of the proceeds will go to support women and children in Uganda. Watch for the early opportunity to buy these sandals online and to hear more about Buyamba Soles at www.buyambasoles.com
We are very grateful for ACI International for their support and creative endeavor. Please join us in supporting them through prayer and buying the sandals at Target this spring. They are already affecting the lives of this community of women in a powerful way.
