Current Projects

God Cares School is alive and well and growing!!  God has much for us to do in Uganda. The challenge is where to start. Please join with us as we dream the vision for this school, for these kids, for this generation. Our mission is to reach and care for 2,000 kids.  We invite you to prayerfully consider joining us in making this happen. You can make a difference by partnering with Buyamba in reaching these needy and orphaned children. We CAN make a difference…one child at a time.

God Cares High School

The need for a new High School is urgent due to the fact that the number of the students in God Cares grows every year. The Church basement is not large enough to accommodate the kids graduating each year from God Cares Elementary School. The High school is subterranean and has concrete floors and thin plywood walls. Not only is it too small, but there is also a problem of noise interaction due to poor sound insulation from one class to another. The grounds are also limited in its ability to hold other activities needed in a High School such as a place to play any sports or even accommodate teacher and administrative offices.  Unless the building is constructed as soon as possible, we will not be having space to teach all of our children.

The Kitchen

The construction of the kitchen is a serious needed due to the fact that we only a tempo small temporary one in place.  The kitchen is presently outside the school building next to the play area in a small sheltered area. When it rains, which it does often, we face the severe problem that cooks will not be able to cook in time, thus causing the children to eat very late.  The little covering is just too small and completely inadequate to accommodate the school facility that currently holds the 735 children and teaching staff.

The Children’s Village

The Children’s’ Village will help to meet the needs of the children who are homeless, which cause some to stay at school everyday all day and every evening.  Many of these kids feel the loss of a family greatly when they can never go “home” after school. They live, instead, in dormitory rooms in the school building. Hence real homes are needed for these children to feel they have a place of their own to call home.   We have planned to start with 10 houses with three bedrooms, a sitting room, two bathrooms, and storage area in each home. There would be a permanent caretaker in each house in charge of their own group of kids, who would together be a family. The children need to grow up in a home environment and the children’s’ village would create that home and village lifestyle.

Teachers’ Quarters

Teachers’ quarters are needed to accommodate the current teachers at God Cares School.  Many of them are in apartments whose prices increase every year. Their needs affect our budget every year because we need to provide a stable salary for them to live with their own families. We want to keep these valuable teachers, dedicated to educating these children spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

The Farm

Farming is necessary because it will help us to provide for our children healthy fresh food such as milk, eggs, and vegetables instead of buying each and every thing from the market which costs significantly more. We will be able to produce more food for the children and teach how to keep cows, poultry, and growing vegetables which will be a life-giving skill in the future.
