God Cares School is alive and well and growing! God has much for us to do in Uganda. The challenge is where to start. Please join with us as we dream the vision for this school, for these kids, for this generation. Our mission is to reach and care for the orphaned and needy children of Uganda. We invite you to prayerfully consider joining us in making this happen. You can make a difference by partnering with Buyamba in meeting their needs for education and discipleship. We CAN make a difference…one child at a time.
God Cares High School
The need for a new high school is urgent due to the fact that the number of the students in God Cares grows every year. Previously the high school met in the basement of a church building. We were blessed to open the doors of the ground floor of the high school on January 31, 2011, due to the generosity of our donors. Although there are still two floors left to construct, we have completed the first stage that has allowed the first 230 students to board and go to school in a comprehensive high school program that extends through all levels of study. There is still much to build and the potential to make a difference in the lives of these kids is vast. Fund raising is crucial. The high school project can be broken down to suit your fund-raising vision which could include various goals such as building an individual classroom ($6,000). If you would like to be a part of this effort, please or contact us at our California office (805) 558-0089 or email julie@ugandabuyamba.com.
God Cares Children Dormitory
There are many children who actually live and board at God Cares School and the High School. Currently, the children are set up in parts of the school buildings, but according to the law they should be living in separate quarters. We are currently drawing up plans to build a girls dormitory and a boys dormitory at both the Primary and High School.
Assembly Hall at the High School
According to Ugandan law for schools, each High School campus must have an assembly hall in which all students can gather at once for various meetings and activities. This will be the next project scheduled after the high school is complete.
The Children’s Village
The Children’s’ Village will help to meet the needs of the children who are orphaned or live to far away for them to walk to school. Many of these kids who board feel the loss of a family greatly when they can never go “home” after school. They live, instead, in dormitory rooms in the school building. Hence real homes are needed for these children to feel they have a place of their own to call home. We have planned to start with 10 houses, each with three bedrooms, a sitting room, two bathrooms, and storage area. There would be a permanent caretaker in each house in charge of their own group of kids, who would together be a family. The children need to grow up in a home environment and the children’s’ village would create that home and village lifestyle.
Teachers’ Quarters
Teachers’ quarters are needed to accommodate the current teachers at God Cares School. Many of them are in apartments whose prices increase every year. Their needs affect our budget every year because we need to provide a stable salary for them to live with their own families. We want to keep these valuable teachers, dedicated to educating these children spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
The Farm
Farming is necessary because it will help us to provide for our children healthy fresh food such as milk, eggs, and vegetables instead of buying each and every thing from the market which costs significantly more. We will be able to produce more food for the children and teach them how to keep cows, poultry, and growing vegetables which will be a life-giving skill in the future.
