Sponsor a University Student
Name: Ezra
Student ID: U0106 Gender: Male Birthday: 04/03/1999 Grade: Year 2 University: Uganda Christian University Major: Bachelor in International Business - 3 year program Need: 3 Sponsors at $35/mo per sponsorship Ezra has been in the Buyamba sponsorship program since 2008. He's been with us for a very long time! He has not had an easy life. His mother passed away the same year he was born, and shortly after she passed, his father did not want to take care of him so he was given to his aunt. His aunt did her best to meet his needs and to this day he is thankful to her for the sacrifices she made. Ezra is an excellent student and an outstanding community leader. He mentors younger students and we know he has a bright future. He is in his second year at Uganda Christian University studying international business. Your sponsorship will ensure he can stay in school, have everything he needs, and ultimately you will be allowing him to have a brighter future! |
How it Works
Sponsoring a University student consists of giving $35 - $105 (1-3 sponsorships needed for each student) to cover the tuition and boarding costs, depending on the particular student's additional sponsorship(s). Our goal is to help you connect with your student ongoing if you would like to encourage them personally beyond financial support. Please note: This is an invitation, not a requirement for SPONSORSHIP. After choosing a student, you will receive their photo in the mail, and this brochure that will give you information to refer to and includes the FAQ's on sponsorship.
You can expect to receive a photo and a letter from your university student each year. There is also a possibility (as COVID restrictions permit) to visit your student on a Buyamba short-term mission trip that travels to Uganda at least once a year. Please see our Missions page for details.

University Sponsorship
At Buyamba, we dream of our students going on to higher education to have an even greater impact on their nation! To continue education after S6 (the equivalent of 12th Grade), a student must score high on their qualifying exams and achieve good grades in school; this is not an easy task for students in Uganda, yet many of our students rise above their circumstances and accomplish those two things.
Some will be accepted into a university, smaller college, or even trade school. This higher-level education can set these students up for a career and life path that will far exceed others in past generations. Many, upon completion of their studies, will find jobs immediately out of school. Through Buyamba, you can come alongside these future leaders through prayer and financial support. Your sponsorship will cover the tuition and boarding (if applicable) for your student in the university setting.
While a pledge to sponsor a child implies a sponsorship through high school, many sponsors who have journeyed throughout Primary and High School with their sponsored children choose to continue giving their contribution of $35 a month to cover higher-level education costs. For some trade schools, the $35 will cover most of their needs; for others, up to three sponsorships of $35 a month may be needed to cover tuition costs. Part of our University Sponsorship program involves the student working or interning to contribute to their education to take personal ownership. University sponsorship is a partnership that the sponsor enters with the student to empower them to achieve their goals. Sponsors are encouraged to pray for your student at this time and write them to enable them to press through the challenges of schooling in Uganda.
With God's blessing and your sponsorship, Uganda Buyamba Orphan Outreach will reach its goal of providing spiritual, physical, educational, and emotional care for every child. Together, we empower these children to grow up with the opportunity to impact their country, first as spiritual leaders, and second, as responsible, productive citizens of Uganda. Please join us today in empowering the next generation for Christ.
