Build the High School Assembly Hall
What will this building be used for?
This building will be the hub of student life at GCHS, for it offers a place where over 2000 students and faculty can join together under one roof for chapels, events and church on Sundays.
The building will also satisfy the Ugandan government requirement of a testing facility that can house the entire student population all at one time. The Assembly Hall will accommodate the annual bible camp for the high school and the primary school which will cut down the costs of an outside camp. In addition to being able to seat the students, the first floor of the building will have four teachers’ quarters, two administrative offices and a Creative Arts classroom. |
Building Progress
Construction on the high school assembly hall started early in 2015.
Pastor Dongo laid out his dreams for the next phase of building Buyamba, and now it is up to us to bring those dreams to life. The Assembly Hall is being built at a steady pace and we are in full swing to continue building. Our appreciation goes out to all those who have prayed and given to this project thus far. We would ask that you continue to pray for the Assembly Hall to be built so it can bless our students and staff, and the community around God Cares high school.
UPDATE: August 2016 Progress on the assembly hall has reached a standstill as current funding has been exhausted. Rainy season is right around the corner, and we need to put a roof on the assembly hall as soon as possible. The roof is estimated at $55,000--a big challenge! If you feel led to give towards this project, please designate your gift to the Assembly Hall. UPDATE: March 2017 The roof has been finished and next we are working on plastering, flooring, and painting. UPDATE: July 2017 The massive Assembly Hall is closer to completion! Having the main structure built, it is ready for plastering and interior finishing work. The hall has the appearance of a giant ark and sits below the high school building across from the girls’ dorm. It is easy to see how this building will serve the ENTIRE GCHS population, including students and teachers and how it could potentially be used for many things, from a testing center to a church to a indoor basketball court. We need $50,000 more to FINISH CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: January 2018 The remaining funds have been raised for the Assembly Hall! Now we're just waiting for the construction to be finished. |
