Impact Silo
Buyamba has a 60+ acres farm outside of Uganda called the Buyamba Farm. We are trying to raise funds for storage silos to feed the children we serve at God Cares Schools. The farm grows crops like cabbage, corn, silage, bananas, and coffee, to name a few. They also purchase corn, beans, and rice as needed for the elementary and high schools, which feed 1800 students, not to mention the teachers and staff. The price of food varies significantly over the different seasons, and substantial cost savings can be achieved with storage capability. This is a big project, but it is much needed due to the number of people it would impact daily.

The children of God Cares School come from desperate family situations at home; many orphaned by at least one parent, and many live-in slum conditions. For some of these children, school is sometimes the only place they will be fed each day. The mission of Buyamba is to offer love, hope, and a future through education and discipleship…one day at a time. Food is step one in providing the foundation to help these children.
Thankfully, the funds to purchase a tractor have recently been provided, and a tractor has been purchased, which will increase the efficiency of harvesting, processing, moving, and storing the grains. Initial grain bin/silo to store grain estimates of 50 tons cost approximately $20k.
Darin Winger from Roanoke, Texas, who is spearheading this project, writes "We are venturing into a project on behalf of God Cares Primary School and High School in Kampala. We love these schools in Uganda and want to help them as they provide a wonderful service to the children of Uganda and the resulting school-related employment for adults. It will make a huge impact!" |
We already have a donor that is willing to match up to $8,000 towards the $20,000 needed to purchase the silo.
Will you pray and consider if God is leading you to "invest" in this project for the community of both God Cares Schools. |
